Picking up athletes after practice

Thank you for all of the chaos that surrounds the track team from time to time. We have multiple practice locations and end practice at different times each day. The chances are pretty strong that if you are a parent that is reading this on the blog, then what I am about to write does not include you.

We have had a real problem this track season with student athletes getting picked up thirty to forty-five minutes late. This is not a once in a while occurance, but has been consistent each and every practice. Over half of our team does not drive, therefore they are reliant upon parents to pick them up after school/practice. While it is true that you as a parent can pick them up thirty minutes late and feel secure knowing that they are safe, it is also true that there must be a coach present with them until each and every student is picked up. I am sorry if this seems like I am being negative, but we have had practices since late February and I have probably spent an additional day of my life (24 hours) waiting for parents to pick up their son/daughter when I should be at home beginning my evening.

As mentioned before, I doubt my issue is with the parents that actually take the time to read this blog for an understanding of practice times. Thank you for reading this simple form of communication.
